Note* This monumental seven-piece graduated sterling silver centerpiece set by Galt & Bro. is a remarkable example of American silver craftsmanship. A firm with a storied place in American history, Galt & Bro. was established in 1802 and later led by the sons of James Galt. The company served as the primary silversmiths to the White House and iconic figures such as Abraham Lincoln.
This centerpiece represents the firm's continued excellence in the late 19th-century luxury market. As the premier jeweler to the White House and Washington's elite, Galt & Bro. likely produced a set of this scale as a custom commission for a high-society dining room or a formal diplomatic setting.
