Camusso Sterling Serving Dish
20th century, Peru
A large Camusso (est. 1930s, Peru) sterling silver serving dish. Features a footed design with decorative carvings throughout and handles carved to resemble what is likely the Amaru, a Peruvian mythical being of serpent or dragon origin. Marked on bottom "Sterling 925 Camusso made in Peru" with flag mark. Total weight: 1934

  • Provenance: Cataloguer's Note: Camusso Sterling, founded in Lima in 1933 by Italian silversmith Carlo Mario Camusso Grasso and formally incorporated in 1946, holds a central role in the development of Peru's modern silver industry. The firm became known for combining European silversmithing traditions with Peruvian craftsmanship, producing refined flatware, hollowware, and decorative objects. By the mid-twentieth century, Camusso had established itself as the country's leading silver workshop, shaping local taste while extending its reach to international markets. Its continued presence reflects both the resilience of artisanal traditions and the adaptation of luxury silver to changing cultural and economic contexts.

Items to be picked up by the buyer or agent for the buyer must be picked up within 10 calendar days following the auction.

Pick-up hours are M-F 10:30am to 4:30pm (EST). Items not picked up within 10 days will be placed in storage at a fee of $10.00 per item per day. All international customs, duties, and other tariffs are the responsibility of the buyer. Akiba Galleries and all third party shippers will declare the selling price as the value in all cases. In the event a purchased item cannot be delivered in the same condition as of the time of sale due to damage, theft, loss or mis-delivery Akiba Galleries Jr. LLC shall not be liable for any amount in excess of that paid by the buyer.
