A religious oil on wood painting titled "Holy Family", depicts Mary and child with cherubs. Marked on back with label reading: "Manner of Bernandino Luini The Holy Family oil on canvas; 47' x 36" 26.63", an old consignment label, and marked at bottom with Bass Collection label as well as a "John Bass" tag. See provenance for more information. Gilt wood cradle-back frame.

  • Provenance: Collections of John and Johanna Bass marked 11745 on tag, as well as "cosign. no. Bass lot no. 609" on label, Bass Museum.

    Cataloguer's Note:
    Bernardino Luini (Italian, c. 1480–1532) was a Lombard Renaissance painter strongly influenced by Leonardo da Vinci. Active mainly in Milan, he is celebrated for his refined frescoes and devotional works marked by soft modeling, graceful figures, and delicate color. His most renowned commissions include the frescoes at San Maurizio al Monastero Maggiore, often called the "Sistine Chapel of Milan."

Pick-up hours are M-F 10:30am to 4:30pm (EST). Items not picked up within 10 days will be placed in storage at a fee of $10.00 per item per day. All international customs, duties, and other tariffs are the responsibility of the buyer. Akiba Galleries and all third party shippers will declare the selling price as the value in all cases. In the event a purchased item cannot be delivered in the same condition as of the time of sale due to damage, theft, loss or mis-delivery Akiba Galleries Jr. LLC shall not be liable for any amount in excess of that paid by the buyer.
