  • Provenance: Cataloguer's Note:
Markus Pierson (American, b. 1960) is a contemporary painter and sculptor best known for his whimsical and romantic series The Coyote Stories. Originally trained as a bookkeeper, Pierson turned to art in the mid-1980s, inspired by a friend's encouragement and Joni Mitchell's music. His signature coyotes—stylized, lanky, and often depicted in dreamlike or adventurous settings—embody themes of love, freedom, and the pursuit of passion.
