Description:

Rare Son's signature Montblanc Writers Ed. Alexandre Dumas Pen Set 18K Gold Nib
c. 1996, Germany
The set features the "incorrect" son's signature found on early releases on all 3 instruments by co's mistake, it was later changed to "correct" father's signature. Making this set a very rare find.
**Collector's Note - An interesting historical detail of this edition is the signature variant. Early production runs mistakenly featured the signature of Duma's son (Alexandre Dumas Fils). These later recalled and replaced with the "correct" signature of the father (Alexandre Dumas pere).
The sets with the son's "incorrect" signature are rarer and command a higher price among collectors exceeding 3,900 for a full set.
How to check the set: Correct Father Version - The pen have the letter "N" appended to the end of the limited edition number, "Incorrect" son's version lack the "N" and simply show the standard serial number located on the pen's cap below gold ring. Which is 03117/20000 (No letter N). Also son's signature lacks the distinctive starting "A" found in his father's. The correct version features a larger more elaborate "A" at the beginning of the signature . The pen signed - "a. Dumas". Making this set very rare with an incorrect son's signature.
Set includes three writing instruments:
(1) Fountain pen: features a piston-filling system and an 18k gold nib.
(1) Ballpoint pen: uses a twist mechanism.
(1) Mechanical Pencil: Completes the trio.
The pens are crafted with a white marble-patterned resin body (described as "cracked ice") and a black resin cap and end piece. Gold-plated accents decorate the clips and bands, with fine engravings on the trim. The instruments come in a book-shaped colorful presentation original box lined with velvet and silk with accompanying documentation. Made in Germany.
